The Board of Directors of the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) recognises the extraordinary contributions of Dr. Linda A. Davis, who will be leaving office as President on 20th December 2025 after a tenure marked by institutional advancement, innovation and national relevance. As BTVI prepares for this transition in leadership, the Board remains fully committed to the continuity of the
institution’s mission and strategic direction and has therefore invited Dr. Davis to continue to support the institution through this leadership transition. Details regarding interim leadership and the process for identifying a successor will be communicated in due course.
The first female President of Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute, Dr. Linda A. Davis, joined BTVI in May 2021 as Vice President of Academic Affairs and was appointed to the position of President in May 2023.
Dr. Davis assumed the leadership of BTVI at a pivotal time in its development. Under her stewardship, the institution has made significant strides in advancing technical and vocational education in The Bahamas.
Remaining forward-thinking and consistent in her ability to “Chart the Course for Success”, Dr. Davis’s leadership has been distinguished by institutional growth. Among her most historic achievements was leading BTVI to the achievement of international accreditation by the Council on Occupational Education (COE). This monumental accomplishment validates BTVI’s programmes against international quality standards, strengthens its global credibility and positions the institution as a serious contender
among regional and international technical and vocational training institutions.
Dr. Davis has also set the foundation for national accreditation with the National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of The Bahamas (NAECOB). Dr. Davis’s drive and unwavering commitment to quality assurance and educational excellence have been pivotal.
Dr. Davis has been transformational in her leadership. She shepherded the review, revision and development of programmes and policies and has implemented protocols and procedures which enhance operational efficiency and accountability. Under her watch a new strategic plan was launched, programme offerings were expanded into key areas of national significance and the curriculum was modernised with a focus on relevance and responsiveness to industry needs, including the innovative solar photovoltaic (PV) installation and maintenance programme. The curriculum was also scaffolded to meet a more coherent matriculation for learners from stand alone professional development courses to entry level to clearly articulated advanced certificates as well as the diploma and associate degree programmes. These institutional advancements, to name a few, demonstrate Dr. Davis’s commitment to
helping ensure that BTVI students are globally competitive and economically independent.
Further, the comprehensive review and revision of programmes of study and the coherent degree audits have established a more seamless pathway for high school students wishing to pursue trades education through Dual Enrolment. This is in addition to strengthening the internal operational processes of the Academic Affairs Division and the way it interfaces with other Divisions and Departments to support learners along their respective trade pathways.
Additionally, Dr. Davis championed the launch of a new BTVI website and, under her leadership, BTVI saw a steady growth in student enrolment and an historic show of national interest in technical education. In Fall 2025, 1,448 new students enroled in BTVI – the largest intake of students in its history – for a total student enrolment from 4,443 in 2021-2022 to 5,836 in 2024-2025.
It was also during Dr. Davis’s tenure that for the first time in BTVI’s history, a clean financial audit was achieved, a credit to the teamwork nurtured under her stewardship. Additionally, Dr. Davis was instrumental in informing the framework for negotiations for poised to benefit from the Government of The Bahamas’ grant of acreage on which the New Providence Main Campus will be constructed.
Dr. Davis has served with distinction as BTVI President with a commitment to ensuring that the institution remains a vital contributor to national development and workforce readiness, as witnessed in the establishment and expansion of programmes to three (3) extension campuses in Abaco, Eleuthera and Exuma, added to the existing instructional service centres in Moore’s Island and North Andros, the branch campus in Grand Bahama and the main campus in New Providence. Her contributions are beyond institutional, they are national, having raised the bar for what technical and vocational education and
training in The Bahamas can and should be. In fact, the stage is set for a transformation of regional magnitude, to BTVI as a hub for technical and vocational education and training for the Caribbean Region.
The BTVI Board of Directors, faculty, staff and students extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Davis for her visionary leadership, unwavering dedication and the integrity with which she executed her duties. Dr. Davis is an educator and a nation builder. Her work at BTVI will undoubtedly benefit many generations to come.
