Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe spoke with members of the media on the subject of firearm licensing. He explained one way in which the government intends to change the licensing process.

“To be very clear, we are now looking at the issuance of weapons to anybody. I will give you a stark example of what we are moving to change. We have about, I think, twenty or thirty thousand licenses for shotguns and rifles. Give you a personal example, I have a shotgun I have a rifle. I obtained those about ten odd years ago. I wasn’t made to prove to the license authority that I can safely use either of them. Periodically, annually or every two years I’m not required to prove that I can still safely use them. We intend to change that.”
