Mrs Charlamae Fernander, former Director of Social Services, has retired and left behind a legacy of excellence and determination even in the face of tragedy. Celebrated recently at a retirement appreciation luncheon hosted by the Ministry of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting, it was clear her impact had reached far and wide. Held at the Royal Bahamas Police Force Headquarters, the luncheon was an opportunity for colleagues to connect and reflect on their time with the former director. Showered with gifts and gratitude, the Ministry honored Mrs Fernander’s nearly five decades of service to the Bahamian people – including her impactful tenure in Grand Bahama during the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian and the COVID-19 pandemic.
