The President of the Grand Bahama Christian Council Rev. Dr. Kenneth Lewis is speaking out against abortion as the topic has once again arisen in the national discourse.

Rev. Lewis stated emphatically, “the Christian church is against abortion.” He continued, “we must always take that position that God takes. And that is when God created man he created him in his own image and likeness. And so no matter what happens once there is life, and only can create life, that life takes on the image of God.”

The clergymen also opined on the case of an 11 year old girl who received a pill induced abortion after being impregnated by her mother’s boyfriend. “I have much empathy for the parents, for the child. And I think in cases like that there should be much counseling and what we need to recognize is that there’s always an option and the option is adoption,” he said.

If in a similar situation, Rev. Lewis said he does not believe that he would encourage his child to get an abortion despite that fact that sin was involved.
