The eleventh Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Cornelius Smith demitted office on August 31st.
His Excellency spoke with ZNS News prior to his demission. He said, “I was fortunate to be appointed an ambassador to the United States. I was fortunate to be appointed non resident ambassador to many South and Central American countries. And I probably think that I have the distinction of being the one person who was…when I went to the United States as ambassador I worked along with President Bush as well as President Obama. Same thing happened when I was appointed as Governor. I also served under the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and I served under King Charles III.”
Smith has served as Governor General since June 28th, 2019.
