The Member of Parliament for Killarney, Michela Barnett-Ellis made her contribution to the 2026/2027 budget debate in the House Of Assembly on Tuesday.
While on her feet, Barnett-Ellis thanked former Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Hubert Minnis and his wife for their dedication to the constituency.
She also raised concerns about the cost of living and ease of doing business discussed in a town hall meeting. She said, “because Bahamians are not measuring by what enters the treasury. They are measuring success by what remains in their pockets, what’s on their tables, what services they could access and whether their children are inheriting opportunity or struggle.”
This was Barnett-Ellis’ first presentation in the House of Assembly since winning election on May 12th. She previously served as a senator.
