During her contribution to the 2026/2027 budget debate in the House of Assembly, Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey said economic revival remains a key focus of the Davis administration.
Moxey highlighted the $3.5 billion in investments, increase tourist arrivals and the success of businesses. She said, “MSC Cruise Port development is moving, that’s the $450 million MSC Cruise Port development. The $348 million Royal Caribbean Cruise Line development at Xanadu Beach is advancing. Grand Bahama Cultural Experience at the Grand Bahama Art & Craft Center is moving toward launch. The Grand Bahama icon sign is now a must see stop and work on the Fishing Hole Cultural Village will soon begin.”
Minister Moxey also spoke about the government’s recent acquisition of the Grand Bahama Power Company and how the move is positively impacting residents. She said, “across Grand Bahama residents are sharing what lower bills mean for their households. This is not theory. This is relief people can feel. The objective is clear, lower costs, better reliability, stronger accountability and an energy framework that supports families, small businesses and the future growth of Grand Bahama.”
Relations between the government and the Grand Bahama Port Authority was also addressed by the Minister. She insists collaboration is taking place behind he scenes. She said, “we are already engaged. I’ve already held my first meeting with the Grand Bahama Port Authority in this new term to continue aggressively moving our projects forward for Grand Bahama. That is what collaboration looks like.”
Moxey said the next phase of investment must be driven not only by investment but partnership.
