Leader of the Opposition, Michael Pintard made his budget presentation in the House of Assembly on Wednesday. He spoke about the need for policies and programs that can benefit all Bahamians.
He said, “we expect a program to enable citizens in all of Grand Bahama, Abaco and other family islands as well as New Providence to have their electricity bill dealt with in the way that 120 voters had their electricity bill dealt with in Grand Cay just before the general election.”
The opposition leader also referred to a Tribune article that alleged that $200,000 in vouchers bought with funds from the Public Treasury were distributed in Abaco by a political candidate. He said, “we expect a program that would allow all Bahamians and all companies to at least receive, those that provide services that Bahamians desperately need, that they can receive voucher payments like the few did during the election campaign in Abaco. Imagine that, $200,000 given out by a PLP candidate, paid for by the Public Treasury.”
