While at WAUSM, the Ambassador hosted a town hall for American citizens living and working in Grand Bahama, offering an opportunity to hear directly from U.S. residents about their needs and to share information on consular services, regional security, and economic priorities.
The Ambassador joined leaders from the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce and the Freeport Industrial Group to discuss investment opportunities, the ease of doing business, and the future of Freeport’s economy. He also met with local government representatives, including Chief Councilor Kendal Culmer.
Ambassador Walker also engaged with Grand Bahama’s community and civil society throughout the trip. He spent time with student athletes and coaches at the Falcons Boys Club, offering words of encouragement to young men from across the island. He also hosted a reception for alumni of U.S. exchange programs celebrating the enduring people-to-people ties between the United States and The Bahamas.
The visit concluded with a solemn stop at the Hurricane Dorian Memorial, honoring the lives lost and the resilience of the Grand Bahama community in the wake of the devastating 2019 storm.
The visit reinforced the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to deepening ties with Grand Bahama across security, economic development, and public diplomacy. As America celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence, the Embassy reaffirmed its investment in the next 250 years of U.S.-Bahamas friendship.
