Today, June 11, 2026, the Blood Donors Society of Grand Bahama (BDSGB) and the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) held a press conference at Police Headquarters to announce plans for World Blood Donor Day 2026 which will be observed on Saturday, June 13th. The celebration will begin with an official opening ceremony in the Foyer of the Rand Memorial Hospital at 10:00am and will be followed by the annual blood drive from 11:00am – 3:00pm.
Superintendent Gregory Lockhart, of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Ravanno Ferguson, president of the Sigma Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., long-time partners in this endeavour, are urging organizations and the wider Grand Bahama community to support the event by making a conscious effort to give blood, while encouraging others to do the same. Also present are BDSGB President Lededra Marche, PHA Lab Manager Claudia Glinton and BDSGB member Meritta Strachan.
