Hundreds of travelers and workers at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) were made to evacuate the building on Sunday due to a bomb threat.
Police and fire officials launched an emergency response and carried out a thorough assessment until the all clear was given. Nassau Airport Development Company Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Development, Jan Knowles provided an update. She said, “at 9:13 am the all clear was given by authorities following this morning’s security incident at LPIA. After completing the required safety screening of the terminal building officials from the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Fire Services Department confirmed that normal airport operations could resume.”
Knowles advised passengers scheduled for flights on Sunday to make their way to the airport for their departure times and to contact their airlines for the latest updates.
Travelers and airport workers were allowed back into the terminal building shortly after 10 am.
