Challenges experienced traversing streets in the capital due to numerous potholes may be compounded in some areas due to waves coming ashore on some coastal roads and flooding due to rain associated with Tropical Storm Nicole.
Minister of Public Works and Utilities assures that efforts are underway to bring relief to motorists. “We want to ensure that there’s quality control. That the patching is consistent with the specification of the ministry and then what we are also doing is building up the resources within the ministry itself. I am advised that there used to be three crews of five persons within the ministry which gave the ministry the capacity to response more quickly whenever a particular problem was identified. It is done to one and I think its less than five persons.”
Sears says that he has received permission from the Minister of Finance for the pothole blitz initiative.
