A review is expected to take place this month on the payment of unemployment benefits to Bahamians.

Millions of dollars have been handed out to assist Bahamians impacted by the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. And while a lot of people have returned to work, many are still unemployed.

Minister with responsibility for national insurance and the public service Brensil Rolle explains.

“The government took the position that benefits would go through the month of January, we did say that we will evaluate early this year, meaning this month and a further determination would be made.

“From what I see in the numbers it means the government would have directly given it to the Bahamian people or transferred it back to the Bahamian people” Minister Rolle said.
