PHA Confirms Loss of Legal Advisor

The Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) is saddened to confirm the passing of Ms. Janet Hall, Legal Advisor. Ms. Hall, an outstanding senior executive within the healthcare sector, passed away Wednesday, February 18th at Doctors Hospital.

Ms. Hall earned a BSc. Degree in Health Services/Science Administration and a MA Degree in Health Science Administration, with an emphasis on Hospital Administration. She enjoyed a career that spanned thirty-five (35) years in the public health system
culminating in her service as the PHA’s Legal Advisor from 2006 until her death.

Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Hall attained the position of Assistant Hospital Administrator in 1988, was subsequently promoted to Senior Assistant Administrator in April 1992 and Deputy Hospital Administrator in July 1995.

Continuing to advance through the highest ranks of the public health system, Ms. Hall was appointed Administrator, Department of Public Health & Community Health Clinics, Ministry of Health, 1997-1998. She was appointed Hospital Administrator for the Rand Memorial in August 1998.

Ms. Hall obtained her Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) and Master of Law Degree with Commendations in Medical Law and was called to the British Bar in November 2001. She devoted her training and experience to the further development of healthcare in The Bahamas. In addition to her regular duties as a Senior Executive within the PHA, she performed legal duties for the Ministry of Health, the Bahamas Medical Council, and the Bahamas Pharmacy Council. She participated on the Public Health Agency (CARPHA) Research and Ethics Committee and the National Stem Cell Ethics Committee and was an active member of the PHA/UWI Ethics Committee. Ms. Hall was also the PHA’s representative on the Government’s SWIFT Justice Committee.

The Board of Directors, Managing Director, Senior Executives, and staff of the PHA extend condolences to the relatives, friends, and colleagues of Ms. Janet Hall. Her service and memory will be cherished forever. May her soul rest in peace.
