Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis addressed a group of religious leaders on Monday at a meeting also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Fred Mitchell and Commissioner of Police, Clayton Fernander.
Davis spoke to the group on the issue of crime in the country. He said, “it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the safety of our people. We need though to have the cooperation of our people to do so. We can’t do it alone.”
The Prime Minister appealed to citizens to say something if the see something when it comes to criminal activity. “When you’re saying it don’t look at yourself as a snitcher, look at yourself, maybe, as a protector. As parents, guardians we have the duty to protect our children. I too call upon you to think about that and let’s pass that message on.’
The Prime Minister delivered a national address on crime in January where he revealed the government’s plan to address the issue. There have been 25 murders in the country since the start of the year.
