Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis wrapped up the 2025-2026 budget debate in the House Of Assembly on Thursday. During his presentation Mr. Davis applauded members of his Cabinet team, including Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey, for their achievements within their portfolios.
Mr. Davis said, “now when I think of what it means to turn a corner, to recover, not just in numbers but in spirit I think of Grand Bahama. And when I think of what it means to lead that kind of recovery with vision, focus and heart I think of the member for Pineridge, the Minister for Grand Bahama.”
According to the Prime Minister, Moxey has taken on one of the toughest assignments in government which is to restore the economy of Grand Bahama. He said, “she didn’t just call for recovery, she built it. From the first day in office she focused on getting people back on their feet. Through the beautiful Grand Bahama program over five hundred people found employment. She’s launched micro grants to empower creatives and innovators.”
Under the leadership of Minister Moxey a transitional housing program has been established and over $3 billion of investments are in development on the island. Grand Bahama residents who sought employment on other islands are also returning to the island. Mr. Davis said, “I ran into one or two Grand Bahamians the other day and they tell me they’re having traffic problems in Grand Bahama, say they’re having traffic jams.”
The Prime Minister expressed his pride in Moxey and said he is happy to help her deliver the future that Grand Bahama has waited for.
