Leader of the Opposition, Michael Pintard presented a list of persons under investigation for fake passports in the House Of Assembly on Wednesday.
Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis responded by stating the list should be handed over to the authorities. He said, “all this jumping and shouting the names of the register that shouldn’t be on the register, well if he knows that the law sets out the procedure for him to deal with it. The guardrails are there. If I know that Calvin Farquharson registered in the Cat Island and he ain’ supposed to be there I raise it and there’s a hearing. Carry the names and raise it to the…if you’re not satisfied with the ruling of the revising officer or the Parliamentary Commissioner, who hears it. If you don’t agree with you can even take it to the court as well.”
Pintard also spoke on the issue. He said, “it’s a list we believe with close to three hundred names on it. I brought a list with at least seventy four names of persons who are being investigated…been issued fraudulently, passports. I’d be happy, whether it’s the Minister of National Security, the person in charge of the Passport Office to share the list, cause all the names are listed. As a precaution, eight of the names are on the register.”
Pintard also released the documents on his Facebook page.
