Police are investigating multiple homicides that occurred over the weekend into Monday morning.
Two people were murdered on Lightbourne Avenue in the Rock Crusher area. Police report that shortly after 7pm on Sunday evening four people were talking on the street when a small Japanese vehicle approached them. Head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Chief Superintendent Michael Johnson, was on the scene and briefed reporters saying, “two males exited that van, one was armed with a high powered rifle. They fired at that crowd shooting four persons. One female died on scene, the other persons were taken to hospital via private vehicle and ambulance where another male succumbed en route to hospital.”
Johnson says that the man who succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital was being monitored and was on bail for a serious offence.
Police were again called to the scene of a homicide early Monday morning on Johnson Road. A female was shot to death after being prompted outside of her house via telephone. Chief Superintendent Johnson was also on the scene of this incident and told reporters, “sometime after five we believe that she was summons outside via phone call. As she went on the outside of her residence the family members heard what sounded like three gun shots. When they went outside to investigate, they met their loved one on the outside of her residence.”
Another electronically monitored male was shot and killed on Sixth Street in Coconut Grove on Saturday past.
Johnson advised the public to be weary of who you hang around even if they are family members.
