RBDF Personnel Successfully complete Defensive Driving Course

As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to enforce the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr. Raymond King’s strategic intent to enhance responsiveness to the security environment nationally and regionally, members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) completed a Defensive Driving Course on June 2, 2021. During a brief awards ceremony held at the Police Training College School of Specialist Training, University Drive, seven Marines from the RBDF Commando Squadron Department were awarded certificates for their continued dedication in assisting with the Emergency Orders.

Bringing remarks on behalf of Commander Defence Force was Senior Commander Chapell Whymms, RBDF Commander Operations. He commended and thanked both agencies for their cooperative efforts in ensuring a safer community through efforts as this. Conducted at the Police Training College from May 25 to June 2, 2021, the course was designed
to heighten the skillset of the men and women whilst driving a motor vehicle. Participants were taught how to operate emergency and non-emergency vehicles.

Aspects of the training included:

Parallel Parking

3-point turning

Accessing intercessions and heavy traffic

Collision Avoidance

Serpentine

Night Driving

Normal and Emergency Driving Techniques

Shuffle Steering

Presenting certificates to the participants were Senior Commander Whymms and Chief Superintendent of Police Dellareece Ferguson. Also in attendance were Superintendent Philip Moxey, Corporal 2214 Alexander Brooks, who served as Course Instructor and Senior Lieutenant Edward Fritz, RBDF Commanding Officer, Commando Squadron. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to Guarding our Heritage, as both agencies work together to ensure a safe and secure environment.
