Well known fuel retailer Peter Roker had established, decades ago, a monthly Give-Back Programme for Roker’s Gas Station on Carmichael Road West. Known for his philanthropy, Mr. Roker maintains a close relationship with charities and community organizations in the Carmichael Road area.
Since then, he has sold his station – a foothold in the western Carmichael area, and he has opened a new gas station at the roundabout for Sir Milo Butler Highway and Fire Trail Road. Once again, he is establishing his monthly Give-Back Programme at his new location.
Last month, the Carmichael Urban Renewal Centre was the recipient of a $500 cheque to assist with the development of community programmes. This week, Mr. Roker continued his philanthropy by giving to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Rangers.
Petty Officer Marco King, senior officer in charge of operations for the Rangers, appreciated the donation, which will be utilized towards the upcoming Youth Leadership Symposium, April 13 – 20, 2025. Rangers are focused on service and community building.
“The support and generosity of sponsors like Mr. Roker makes an impactful difference in the lives of our nation’s youth,” said Officer King.
Mr. Roker intends to keep a close relationship with community building organizations in his area, and encourages more corporate institutions, large or small, to give as they have, in order to keep young people engaged and on a path to success in their community.
