A soft launch was held at Royal Caribbean’s Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island over the weekend. Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper along with other government officials were in attendance.
President of the Royal Beach Club and General Manager of Royal Caribbean International Bahamas, Philip Simon spoke about the Club’s economic impact. He said, “you talk about, again, the fact that we have deliberately outsourced, in partnership with the government.”
According to Simon the outsourced services include pool, landscaping, security, IT, food and beverage and ticketing. “Those are all Bahamian companies which means the extension of the Royal Beach Club goes beyond the five hundred plus employees that we have into the extended service operations impacting thousands of Bahamians.”
The Club has confirmed more than two thousand bookings ahead of its official opening on December 23rd. While the property caters to cruise passengers Bahamians are also welcomed. Simon said, “as guests purchase tickets as an excursion to come to The Royal Beach Club, locals will have a similar opportunity through a local ticketing platform as opposed to going through the cruise.”
