The Bahamas Department of meteorology has issues a severe thunderstorm warning from 12:40 p.m until 2:40 p.m. edt, Friday, 2nd, July 2021.

A severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect for North and Central Andros and Eleuthera, along with their adjacent waters.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for New Providence.

At 12:35 p.m, observations, lightening detection, radar and satellite imagery depicted a cluster of showers with embedded thunderstorms associated with troughing and an unstable air mass, moving northeastwards, across and towards the warning and watch areas.

Some of these thunderstorms may become strong to severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightening, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity. Localized flooding is also possible during these storms.

Boaters in the warning and watch areas should seek safe Harbour and residents in the warning areas should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightening conductors.
