RBDF joins Country in Independence Celebrations

As the country celebrated 47 years as an independent nation, the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Defence and Police forces were out on Clifford Park in solidarity to help mark the occasion on July 9, 2020. Globally, the world has accepted its new normal amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, and as such, this auspicious event was celebrated in keeping with the COVID-19 Emergency Orders.

RBDF Harbour Patrol Unit makes Apprehension

Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s Harbour Patrol Unit apprehended 3 males this afternoon in Nassau Harbour for failing to produce documentation for their vessel. While on routine patrol at 1:30 pm. Defence Force craft P-115, coxswain by Leading Seaman Mario Ramsey boarded and searched a 24-ft Cabin Cruiser, in the vicinity of John Alfred Dock.

RBDF Vessel Sustains Damage

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s Bahama Class vessel HMBS NASSAU, sustained minor damage to its port propeller while transiting the channel inbound to the pier in Marsh Harbour, Abaco on Friday morning. None of the crew members were injured in that incident. As per RBDF protocols, divers were deployed once alongside the pier to determine the extent of damage.

RBDF Assists Financially during COVID-19 Crisis

Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continue to assist families during this CoViD-19 pandemic with financial contributions during the past week. As the members of Entry 24 celebrated 31 years of service on the Defence Force, current and past members of that squad saw it fitting to observe this occasion by assisting over 20 families with gift certificates.

RBDF Change of Command Ceremony

A journey that began on 12 January 1987 for Commodore Raymond King when he enlisted in the R.B.D.F as a Marine Recruit, continued on Thursday when he was officially designated the highest office within the organization, which took effect 15 April, 2020. At the Change of Command Ceremony at the Defence Force Base, Commodore King received his Instrument of Apparatus from the Governor General, His Excellency The Most Honorable Cornelieus Smith. He succeeds Commodore Tellis Bethel, and now becomes the eighth person to attain the rank of Commodore and being appointed the Commander Defence Force.
