The U.S. embassy here in the Bahamas clarifying the centers for disease control’s recent decision to issue its highest travel advisory to the Bahamas.

The CDC on Monday elevated the Bahamas to level 4 – essentially advising Americans against all travel to the country due to the threat of covid-19.

Approximately 80 per cent of countries around the world were dealt the blow; however, the embassy stresses that this does not imply a reassessment of a country’s current health situation, but rather reflects an adjustment in the U.S. State Department’s travel advisory system to give more weight to the CDC’s existing assessments.

According to the embassy, this realignment reflects the current, unpredictable and evolving threat posed by the global pandemic.
