Government officials led by Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis traveled to Eleuthera to attend a commissioning ceremony for the new water plant for Russell Island.

Executive Chairman of Water and Sewerage and Member of Parliament for North Eleuthera, the Hon. Sylvanus Petty addressed those in attendance at the ceremony saying, “Am I proud? Yes I am. I am very proud. This was a promise made to the beautiful, hardworking people of Spanish Wells. The Water and Sewerage staff and the Bahamas government is also very proud of this accomplishment. Stay tuned there is more to come.”

The gathering also heard from Prime Minister Davis who said, “for a number of years we’ve seen problem after problem, disruption after disruption. I understand the frustration and anger you have felt while experiencing water shortages. Just like people in Nassau, you pay your fair share of taxes and you simply want to government to do its job in providing services that work. My administration took this issue seriously from day one.”

Water and Sewerage officials also visited other assets on the island including a desalination plant.
