Bahamasair Pilot, Captain Trevor Fernander is retiring after being with the airline since the 1990s. Fernander recently flew for the final time, an experience he referred to as “bittersweet and emotional.”
Fernander spoke of his experience with Bahamasair saying, “I started as a first on the short 360, then I went to first officer on a Dash-8. From there, shortly afterwards I was Captain in the SD-360, then the Dash-8. Then I was a first officer on a jet and back on the ATR and now I’m Captain on the 737 at Bahamasair.”
Fernander’s first officer on his final flight was Terron McQuay who he said first flew with him to Long Island while in high school. McQuay said Fernander inspired him to get into flying.
The family and friends of Captain Fernander met him at the airport after he piloted his final flight.
