The body of a man was discovered by relatives in a home off Soldier Road on Tuesday morning.
Police Inspector Jerard Culmer was on the scene where he briefed reporters about the incident. He said, “initial reports reveal that around 6:30 am a family member contact police control room that their relative, a male in their early thirties, appeared to be lifeless. As a result police responded, EMS also responded. EMS begun life saving initiatives trying to resuscitate the victim however, with negative results.”
According to the Inspector the case is consistent with suicide. “The body was found in a state where you can see it appears that he was suffocated as far as a noose from hanging,” Culmer said.
Inspector Culmer also made this appeal to the public. He said, “if you think that you have a family member that is not feeling well or has made thoughts or expressed thoughts of committing suicide, I want to ask that you give them a wellness check every so often. One death is one too many. I want to ask persons to reach out to the Bahamas Crisis Center at 328-0922.”
