Three men were shot on White Road off St. James Road on Tuesday afternoon. One of the men, identified as 54 year old Demetrius Cooper, died on the scene.
Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Superintendent Sheria King was on the scene where she provided details of the incident. She told reporters, “masked man approached these men that was in the yard at the gathering and opened fire on these men, hitting one of those men, who is in his early twenties, and is presently in critical condition at the hospital. That victim was transported to hospital in a private vehicle.”
King continued saying, “as these masked men were leaving they continued firing in the direction hitting two other victims, fatally wounding one who is in his mid fifties and injuring another male who is in his early seventies. The male in his seventies is in stable condition at the hospital. He was transported to hospital via EMS personnel.”
The Chief Superintendent expressed gratitude that none of the young people in the area were injured. She also assured that police, specifically the northeastern division, will continue to be present in the community.
This latest killing raises the country’s murder count for the year to 62.
