Leader of the Free National Movement (FNM), the Hon. Michael Pintard announced at a press event on Sunday that the Party will not offer a nomination to former Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis to run in the next general election.
On Monday Pintard elaborated on the decision saying the Party is intentional about the steps its taking to retool. He said, “we have heard from the Bahamian people in 2021. They want better. They want an improved version of the FNM and we intend to be better than both the Progressive Liberal Party and our recent..”
This comes after the resignation of the Member of Parliament for Central Grand Bahama, the Hon. Iram Lewis from the FNM to join the Coalition Of Independents last week.
The FNM held a zone meeting in Grand Bahama on Monday at the Party’s headquarters. Pintard spoke of the FNM ‘s plans for Grand Bahama saying the number one issue on the island is the cost of living. “There’s a need for us to remove any of the red tape that’s hindering investment by Bahamians and investment by foreigners in Grand Bahama and creating opportunities for ownership and employment for Bahamians.”
According to Pintard both the central government and the Grand Bahama Port Authority are in need of transformation.
