The Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation (MOTIA) welcomed the Margaritaville at Sea Islander on April 27, 2026, as the vessel made its inaugural call to the Freeport Harbour Company.
The milestone occasion was commemorated with a traditional plaque exchange between MOTIA, Freeport Harbour Company and the Margaritaville at Sea Islander officials.
Senior Manager of Guest Services and Training at the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation (MOTIA) Karenda Rolle expressed satisfaction with the strong turnout of guests taking advantage of the cuisine, goods and services offered by local artisans, craft vendors, taxi drivers and tour operators during the inaugural call of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander.
“This looks like something that will be phenomenal for the Grand Bahama island,” said Rolle.
Fleet Captain for Margaritaville at Sea, Theodore Mitropoulos, described the partnership as a mutually beneficial opportunity for both the cruise line and Grand Bahama.
“It’s a great deal for us. Every new port marks a new beginning, and we are pleased to be here with you and to do business with you. This partnership will bring prosperity to your people and to our company as well. We take seriously the opportunity to call at your port,” he said.
The Margaritaville at Sea Islander, which has a passenger capacity of 2,680, arrived with approximately 2,100 passengers on board, providing a welcomed boost to Grand Bahama’s tourism sector.
The inaugural visit underscores continued confidence in The Bahamas as a premier cruise destination and highlights Grand Bahama’s appeal as a key port of call for international cruise lines.
