Minister of the National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe commented on parenting in the country after the killing of a 15 year old male on First Street, the Grove on Monday. He told ZNS News, “we raise these murderers. They don’t drop from the sky.”
Munroe added, “somewhere from birth to fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, we manage to raise killers. If we don’t stop raising killers we will continue to have killers. If we don’t start to be more aggressive in assisting police in identifying these persons and their firearms we will continue to have it.”
The Minister also spoke to government’s efforts in crime prevention. “We have extended the intervention program into the primary school with HYPE because we found that young people were going deviant a lot earlier.”
Munroe called on people to examine themselves. He said, “we hear too many times what is the church doing. What is the police doing? What is the government doing? I want everyone in a whole of society exercise to ask what am I doing?”
There have been 26 murders since the start of 2024.
