Grand Bahama musician Alvin Eugene Simms also known as ‘Papa Smurf’ is refuting social media clai of his involvement in a recent drug related shooting near Haiti.
Simms told ZNS News a photograph of him was used in a social media video which falsely identified him as one of the men involved in the incident. Speaking about the person believed to be responsible for the posting Simms said, “I do not know nothing about what he talking about. So he just jumping the gun and just putting anything to any place and hopes it sticks. I’m hear to make sure that people know that that’s not me even though he has a picture of me under somebody else name.”
The post identifies one of the men in the photos as Marcus Moss otherwise known as ‘Smurf’ which is similar to Simms’ stage name. “I don’t know if that guy name is Smurf or whatever but he went ahead and put my picture on it. And I’m trying to figure out how he even get my picture and then I realized that he got my picture from a promo video that I did for Top A Da Bay Bar saying I’m coming there to Abaco to perform. So that’s where he got the picture from. And I’m trying to figure out of all the people in The Bahamas why me?”
Simms says he is focused on protecting his reputation and making quality music. He is also pursuing legal action. He said, ” I was advised to do a press conference and I was also advised from the police from the Royal Bahamas Police Force to go ahead and take it to the courts and that’s what I’m gonna do. I hope that this help to stop him from doing all of this craziness and never be seen on the internet again if possible.”
The musician said the person who posted the story should have fact checked to make sure that his story was accurate.
