Police are investigating a double shooting that occurred on West Bay Street in the vicinity of Nesbitt’s Restaurant on Monday.
There were reports of gunfire in the area shortly before noon. Police responded and upon arrival learned that two men were taken to the hospital by private vehicles. One of the men later died in hospital while the other man remains there receiving treatment.
According to officers, the incident is related to an ongoing dispute. Superintendent Alphonzo Lewis was on the scene where he provided more details. He said, “the police is aware of this matter. This matter was ongoing between two individuals for some time. That’s why we’re asking persons to please be able to deal with your matter in a positive way so we don’t have to resort to this kind of shootings. It’s always a way to deal with your conflict with conflict resolution. This is why we have officers from Urban Renewal. We have officers on the grounds in these areas, coming into the community from Urban Renewal and speaking to persons in the area about making the right choices as it relates to crime in the area.”
