George Pinder, 62, and Leonardo Farrington, 44, were charged with murder on Tuesday in connection with the death of Jillian Pinder, the wife of George Pinder.
Pinder was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and abetment to murder. Farrington was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and kidnapping.
Jillian Pinder was abducted from her home in Lake Cunningham and stabbed in the throat on June 4th. She died on July 13th.
Neither of the men were required to enter a plea when they appeared before Magistrate Cara Turnquest-Deveaux. They were both denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services. They are expected back in court on January 25th, 2027, for service of a voluntary bill of indictment.
Friends and relatives of the slain teacher were in the courtroom as the proceedings unfolded. Her brother Jason Rahming and cousin Kaliah Sutherland shared their thoughts with reporters.
Rahming said the family hopes for swift justice and described his sister as the most beautiful person and undeserving of what happened to her.
For her part, Sutherland expressed gratitude to God and said, “we know that whoever is responsible will be held before the courts. Justice for Jill.” Sutherland also said her cousin always showed up: “You could have had a puppy being baptized, whatever it was, celebrating a graduation, whatever it was, my cousin always showed up. She showed up and she showed out. She stood up for us. So just how she stood up for us in life, we stand with her in death.”
