Family island residents voted in the advanced poll at the University of The Bahamas in New Providence on Thursday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Progressive Liberal Party candidate for Exuma and Ragged Island, the Hon. Chester Cooper visited the site. Mr. Cooper commented to reporters on the process at the polling station. He said, “they’ve been some glitches, some hitches but I believe we’re smoothing out the kinks. The process is smooth. In the Exuma poll we had some issues perhaps with the training of some of the officers inside but I think this is a good dry run.”
Mr. Cooper also encouraged Bahamians to exercise their right to vote. “Out forefathers fought for us to have an independent country where we could select who our leaders are. I would say to everyone to come out and vote. Let your voice be heard, exercise your right. There are people who have shed blood, sweat and tears for this opportunity,” he said.
The general election is scheduled to be held on May 12th.
