The Free National Movement held a press conference led by party leader Michael Pintard on Grand Bahama on Sunday.
Flanked by Member of Parliament for East Grand Bahama, Kwasi Thompson; FNM Candidate for West Grand Bahama, Omar Isaacs and party supporters, Pintard called for greater clarity on the status of major development projects on the island including the Grand Lucayan Resort and the Grand Bahama International Airport.
Standing in front of the Grand Lucayan Resort, Pintard spoke of the impact of the idle state of the property on employees and families. He said, “behind this building are real people, workers who missed paychecks, families who fell behind on rent and light bill.”
The FNM Leader also questioned the government’s claim that more than $120 million has been received from the buyers of the resort. Pintard said, “if money was collected show the proof. If the money was not collected tell the truth. This property is too important to be treated like a political prop.”
On the Grand Bahama International Airport Pintard said, “to this day the Bahamian people still do not know whether the Grand Bahama International Airport will be rebuilt on the same footprint, whether a final design exists, what the true cost will be and who will manage the facility.”
Pintard said part of the Free National Movement’s vision for Grand Bahama will be the completion of long promised projects and strengthen this island’s economic base.
