The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) has awarded FOCOL Holdings Limited its Western Hemisphere Deal of the Year, recognizing the successful execution of a landmark energy transaction that is advancing the modernization of energy infrastructure in The Bahamas.
Presented at EXIM’s 2026 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., the award honors transactions that demonstrate exceptional scale, complexity, and impact across the region. It reflects the effective alignment of policy, financing, and execution required to deliver infrastructure projects of national significance.
As the official export credit agency of the United States, EXIM plays a critical role in enabling U.S. exports and supporting strategic projects in global markets. Its Annual Conference convenes senior government officials, institutional investors, and industry leaders to examine the future of trade, energy, and infrastructure development.
Dexter Adderley, President & Chief Executive Officer of FOCOL, and Clinton Rolle, Chief Operating Officer, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. They were joined by project partner Tanya Petrova, Senior Vice President of Capital Markets at GE Vernova, reflecting the collaborative nature of the transaction and the strength of international partnerships supporting the initiative.
The ceremony was also attended by His Excellency Wendell Jones, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States, underscoring the national significance of the project and its role in strengthening bilateral engagement and economic cooperation.
“This recognition reflects the disciplined approach required to deliver complex energy infrastructure at scale,” said Dexter Adderley. “Projects of this nature demand more than capital and technology, they require clarity of framework, strength of partnership, and a long-term commitment to national outcomes. We are proud to contribute to solutions that enhance reliability, improve efficiency, and support sustainable growth in The Bahamas.”
The transaction reflects FOCOL’s expanding role in the regional energy sector, particularly through the integration of liquefied natural gas (LNG), modern generation assets, and renewable energy solutions within a structured and evolving regulatory environment.
Sir Franklyn Wilson, KCMG, Chairman of FOCOL Holdings Limited, emphasized the broader strategic importance of the recognition. He said, “This award affirms the strength of our strategic direction and the discipline with which we execute. FOCOL has long understood that sustainable development requires alignment between investment, governance, and national interest. Our focus has been to build capacity, strengthen partnerships, and deliver infrastructure that supports the long-term resilience of The Bahamas. This recognition by EXIM validates both our approach and our responsibility to continue contributing meaningfully to the country’s energy future.”
FOCOL Holdings Limited continues to play a central role in advancing the transformation of the Bahamian energy sector, leveraging structured partnerships, modern financing frameworks, and operational expertise to deliver projects that support economic competitiveness and long-term national development.
