Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis celebrated the relaunch of Bahamasair’s service to Cat Island in ceremonies at Arthur’s Town International Airport, June 25, 2026. For the first time in more than twenty years, Bahamasair again provides scheduled service to Cat Island, a place treasured by the Prime Minister as the early source of his appreciation for connection and community.
He said, starting Thursday, flights between Nassau and Cat Island will operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, bringing new opportunities to that island.
Cat Island is known for its beauty and history. Improved airlift will help showcase the island and provide support for small businesses, hotels, restaurants, taxi drivers, and entrepreneurs propelling Cat Island development, the Prime Minister noted.
The newest milestone is made possible through the current Family Islands Airports Renaissance Project to actively build and renovate 19 airports throughout the archipelago, and further energize national development.
At the ceremonies were: Minister of Tourism the Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin; Minister of Housing and Land Reform the Hon. Keith Bell; Minister of Energy, Utilities and Aviation the Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis; Director General of Tourism Latia Duncombe; Director of Aviation Dr. Kenneth Romer; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Land Reform Reginald Saunders; Bahamasair’s Chairman Tanya Pratt; Bahamasair Managing Director Tracy Cooper; Airport Authority Chairman Paul Bevans; and other government officials.
