A heads of agreement is scheduled to be signed on May 15th for the redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Hotel located on the island of Grand Bahama. The property was purchased by the Minnis administration in 2018.
Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey shared her excitement on the verge of the signing. She said, “it is happening. I am excited. It means so much for the people of Grand Bahama who have weathered the storm.”
The Minister said that after searching for the right company for this deal they’ve ensured that the deal incorporates not just the Grand Lucayan but the surrounding area. She said, “we took our time but we excited to have the right buyer, the right deal for the people of Grand Bahama island.”
The Davis administration has paid much attention to the revitalization of the Grand Bahama economy since assuming office. Moxey told ZNS News though much has been done and she is committed to continuing the work. “We got to work and we started to do the big things, which took a lot of time to get it done, and also what is considered the small things. But that’s the things that allowed us to be able to empower people, cause them to put bread on the table with initiatives like Beautiful Grand Bahama.”
It is hoped that this redevelopment deal will return the area of Lucaya to the tourism hub it once was.
