Member of Parliament for Southern Shores, Leroy Major spoke on Wednesday about his political future as others vie for the Progressive Liberal Party’s nomination to contest his seat in the next general election.
While speaking with reporters outside of the House Of Assembly Major gave his endorsement to Clint Watson, one of the aspirants for the Southern Shores nomination. He said, “to be honest with you, I support Clint. Now the problem is this, if they don’t give it to Clint then they gat to face me. That’s the bottom line.”
When asked if he will contest a seat as an independent candidate Major said, “watch the road. I’m not going under the rock. I’m here and like I said whoever come in Southern Shores have to come through me. Up to even Christmas I give out ham, I give out vouchers and I give out turkeys to me people, alright. So I don’t know who could say that but I’ve never turned my back on the people of Southern Shores. If I turn my back on the people of Southern Shores I turn my back on myself.”
Major was elected as the representative of Southern Shores in the 2021 general election.
