The Grand Bahama winners of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture’s National Youth Awards paid a courtesy call on Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey in the Harold DeGregory Complex on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The delegation represented Grand Bahama in the national competition in New Providence and returned home with 12 of 18 top achievers awards, including the third highest, Director’s Cup, captured by Livingston Duncombe, a multi-sport athlete and 12th-grade student at Sunland Baptist Academy.
Duncombe also competed in the Gran Fondo New York (GFNY) Bahamas road cycling race staged in New Providence on Sunday, November 9, 2025 and placed fifth out of 132 participants and second in his age category (18 – 34yrs).
Minister Moxey congratulated the delegation for the amazing work they continue to do in the community and expressed how pleased she is with their recent accomplishment on the national scene.
She assured them that they have the full backing of the government to enable them to continue to excel.
“You are the future. You are already leading the way and I know there is so much more that you are going to do,” Minister Moxey said.
MOYSC Youth Officer Rayette Spence noted that the delegation is just a small percentage of the greatness embedded in Grand Bahama as there are countless numbers of young people on the island doing phenomenal things.
“We are so excited about what is happening in Grand Bahama with our young people. We are so excited to display them and all the work that they are doing and to let the country know that, of course, the country is in good hands with our young people,” Spence said.
