Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Free National Movement (FNM), the Hon. Michael Pintard told reporters of his intention to repeal the S\muggling Of Migrants Legislation should the FNM win the next general election.
Pintard said, “the way it is written it cannot just be polished and patched. They ought to have withdrawn it and engaged the public in a proper way and it should have been, certainly, more comprehensive. They should have looked at the Trafficking In Persons Act, the Proceeds of Crime Act, the Immigration Act and they should have come to Parliament with, again, a bill that took into consideration all of what we needed to adjust in that suite of legislation. They have no done that so we wonder what their motivation is.”
The Smuggling Of Migrants Bill was passed in the House of Assembly this week.
