The Progressive Liberal Party held a rally in Savannah Sound, Eleuthera on Tuesday where party officials and candidates encouraged residents to choose progress.
Among the speakers was the candidate for North Eleuthera, Sylvanus Petty who spoke about land ownership. He said, “we are granting over 300 crown land grants in North Eleuthera, 300. The Prime Minister promised me that he will be back in five days to deliver the crown land grants to the people of North Eleuthera.”
Minister of Works and Family Island Affairs and Central and South Eleuthera hopeful, Clay Sweeting spoke to the development of the island. “We are renovating every airport on the island of Eleuthera. We will continue to encourage responsible development. This is to secure heritage for generations to come,” he said.
Deputy Prime Minister and tourism minister, the Hon. Chester Cooper who said the next term will be the era of ownership. He said, “we don’t just want you to work at the front desk. We want you to own the hotel. We don’t just want you to carry the luggage. We want you owning the lodge. That’s exactly what Clay Sweeting and the PLP is doing.”
The rally was headlined by Prime Minister and PLP Leader, the Hon. Philip Davis. He shared the party’s plans for Eleuthera. Mr. Davis told supporters, “soon you’ll be having better airports, more affordable homes, stronger broadband, support for farmers and fisherman, small businesses and tourism entrepreneurs. And more workforce housing so that people who work hard in these communities can afford to live and raise their families in these communities.”
