The Royal Bahamas Police Force has provided an update on several open investigations being carried out at a recent press conference. 

Officer In Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department, Chief Superintendent Michael Johnson said, “in relation to the attempted murder of a 17 year old male who was shot at a service station on Tuesday the 23rd of January, we have in our custody a 25 year old male who is assisting us with that investigation.”

Johnson also told reporters, “in relation to the murder that occurred in the southern end of New Providence, because of the quick response of the police officers, that is the latest murder recorded for the year, we have a 26 year old male who is police custody who is assisting us with that investigation.”

Superintendent Riley of the Drug Enforcement Unit informed of several seizures made by the police. Speaking of an operation on the island of Eleuthera, he said, “police and customs on that island, as a result of information, conducted an inspection of a palette of goods which was transported to that island by way of cargo. Upon their examination, a quantity of drugs along with a pistol and some 31 boxes of ammunition totaling 1499 rounds of assorted ammunition we seized.”

Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Superintendent appealed to the public to continue informing the police of where illegal drugs and weapons can be found. ”Each week, I’m depending on my Bahamian people as you have done last week, call us let us know where the weapons are, let us know where the drugs are, let us know the young people who are not in school, so that we can deal with the issues and restore our communities.”
