Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) is pleased to announce the official appointment of its Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 term, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Led by reappointed Chairman E. Andrew Edwards and Deputy Chairman Drumeco Archer, the newly constituted Board brings a renewed mandate focused on execution, operational excellence, and accountable leadership for the Bahamian people.
The incoming Board steps into governance and oversight during a pivotal era of transformation for public healthcare in The Bahamas. With major capital development projects underway, including the progression of the new Bahamas Hospital in New Providence, the Freeport Health Campus in Grand Bahama, facility upgrades across the Family Islands, and critical infrastructural transitions such as the Harbourside Facility, the Board’s primary mission is delivering tangible, high-quality results across all PHA institutions.

The 2026–2027 Board blends top-tier medical expertise, corporate finance, civil and coastal engineering, legal acumen, technology leadership, and public administration. This diverse range of professional backgrounds significantly expands the PHA’s institutional capacity, bringing specialized insight to high priority initiatives.
To advance these priorities, the Board will leverage its engineering and project management expertise to accelerate infrastructure development, ensuring new facility builds and physical upgrades are delivered safely, sustainably, and on schedule. In tandem, specialized clinical leadership will work to elevate the quality of care by expanding medical services, refining patient safety standards, and modernizing healthcare delivery across all institutions. Recognizing that lasting progress relies on strong relationships, the Authority is committed to strengthening stakeholder engagement and communication through open, transparent dialogue with patients, partners, and local communities to build trust and meet public needs. Crucially, the Board will focus on supporting healthcare staff and employees by
prioritizing workforce growth, workplace safety, and professional development to empower the nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff who serve as the backbone of the system.
Working alongside the PHA Executive Management Team, the Board remains committed to supporting staff across Princess Margaret Hospital, the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre, Grand Bahama Health Services, and National Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) to deliver equitable, accessible, and high quality healthcare throughout the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
