The Ministry of Health & Wellness extends congratulations to Dr. Cherita Moxey on her appointment as Rapporteur of the 63rd Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), being held September 28 to October 2 in Washington, D.C.
The Bahamas was elected to serve as Rapporteur during the opening of the Directing
Council, which brings together Ministers of Health and senior health officials from across
the Region of the Americas to address regional health priorities, strengthen cooperation
and advance collective action.
As Rapporteur, Dr. Moxey will support the formal proceedings and documentation of the
meeting. Her appointment also includes membership on the Council’s General Committee,
providing The Bahamas with an important opportunity to contribute to regional health
dialogue and decision-making.
Dr. Moxey stated, “The Bahamas has a proud history of demonstrating leadership in
regional and international forums. I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve and to
represent our country in this important capacity at the 63rd Directing Council. It is both an
honour and a responsibility that I accept with great pride.”
The appointment is a significant achievement for The Bahamas and reflects the country’s
continued engagement and leadership in regional health. It also provides another
opportunity for The Bahamas to contribute meaningfully to dialogue, collaboration and
collective action to advance health and well-being across the Americas.
