Police in New Providence have arrested a male suspect for the possession of dangerous drugs. Wednesday afternoon DEU officers executed a search warrant on a Stapleton Gardens residence. Two-hundred and fifteen pounds of suspected marijuana (a street value of $250,000.00) was discovered along with an assault rifle and ammunition.
In a separate incident a male suspect was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm. Wednesday at 5 p.m. Operations Unit officers on patrol on Bahama Avenue noticed suspicious behavior from occupants in a bronzed colored Honda Accord. The driver fled and a chase ensued. Once the suspicious vehicle was intercepted, police conducted a search and discovered a pistol containing 10 unfired rounds of ammunition. Suspects were taken into custody.
Investigations into these matters continue.
