Speaker of the House of Assembly and Chairman of the Boundaries Commission, Patricia Cleare tabled the boundaries report in the House this morning. This comes as a general elections is expected to be held this year.
The report shows an addition of two seats in Parliament making it a total of 41 seats. A new seat called St. James has been added in western New Providence while Bimini has been separated from West Grand Bahama and added with the Berry Islands. Other notable changes include a change in the name of the Exumas and Ragged Island constituency to Exuma & Ragged Island and the Mangrove Cay and South Andros constituency will now be known as Central, Mangrove Cay & South Andros.
