Approximately 200 students in Grand Bahama celebrated a gift giving event at Freeport Harbour on Friday, December 6, courtesy of Florida Caribbean Cruise Association and the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation.
In addition to staff of Florida Caribbean Cruise Association and the Ministry of Tourism — Santa Claus appeared, and assisted with the gesture of gift-giving. The students were also treated to lunch.
On hand to bring brief remarks at the event was Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey, who said it is a season of giving and togetherness, and that when people host such events it’s a reminder “of the power of community and the joy we can bring to the lives of others, especially our children, with simple acts of kindness.”
Christmas, said the Minister, is about love, hope, joy, generosity and the bonds that bring people together.
“I’m grateful for your support and spreading holiday cheer on the island.”
Turning her attention to the students present, she said it is hoped the gifts will not only bring them joy but will serve as a reminder of how valued they are.
“The future is bright for each of you, and I’m delighted to celebrate this special moment with you.”
