While delivering his contribution to the 2025-2026 budget debate in the senate, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Commission, Sen. Hon. Randy Rolle said the commission has a recovery rate of 56.63% for the year thus far.
He said, “so far for this year the CPC has processed $206,391.86 in claims and has recouped $116,872.57 all refunded back in the pocket of consumers.”
The Commission has processed 139 complaints 10 were referrals to other agencies, 22 were advice given and 107 were disputes between consumers and service providers. “The ever capable CPC team has resolved some 45 matters to date,” Rolle said. Sixty two matters remain under investigation.
According to Senator Rolle complaints against couriers, auto part stores and contractors has declined. Rolle said, “some of the other complaints we often hear include overcharged goods, under delivered orders, unfinished work, poor quality of work, poor customer service, services not rendered, expired items being sold and shipped to the family islands.”
The Consumer Protection Commission Chairman also foreshadowed that the commission will launch a public education campaign on contracts, loans, housing, health services and fair pricing.
